The Ridgeline Yurt site has two 20 foot Mongolian style yurts located in the Lost Trail backcountry, near Lost Trail Ski Resort. The setup is similar to the Stateline Yurt, but these yurts can be accessed without backcountry ski gear. With a little pushing with your poles you can get in and out of the site or you can use snowshoes and walk to the site from Oreo ski trail at Lost Trail. The site is located about ½ mile from the the ski resort boundary.Being able to access this backcountry lodging without touring gear opens up the site for more people to be able to experience a winter yurt stay!
This site can accommodate more people than the Stateline Yurt. To reserve the Ridgeline Yurts it requires a six person minimum, but can sleep up to twelve people. The yurts are stocked with firewood and a wood stove in each hut, bunk beds and cots, propane cook stove, center table and chairs, kitchen utensils, and supplies, propane BBQ and an outhouse toilet system. The yurts sit on a deck platform elevated above the ground.
You can add on a dinner and breakfast package at the Ridgeline.Make it easy and comfortable!Yurt hosts will arrive at the yurt around 5 pm to start preparing a gourmet meal.Menu options and pricing available upon request. You can also add on a gear haul for $75 to have bags, food, etc delivered to the hut.Don’t have the hassle of trying to pack everything in your backpack and riding the ski lift with a large pack.Travel with a light day pack and have your overnight gear arrive after the resort closes via a cargo sled.
If you plan on a complete self guided stay you will need to bring all your own food and beverages to the yurt.Metal buckets are provided for melting snow into water. You will need to bring all your own food, but there are basic spices, cooking supplies and oil.The yurts do have solar lighting, but bring a headlamp as well and you may want extra batteries. Sleeping pads are provided at the yurts, but you will need to bring your own sleeping bags and pillow for your stay. Sleeping bags and pillows are available for an additional charge. When you leave the yurt you will need to take everything you brought in back out with you. Please do not leave trash or food at the yurt.
These yurts are available for day skiers visiting Lost Trail Ski Area looking for lodging, experienced backcountry skiers, or people looking for a mellow snowshoeing experience from the resort. When going to the Ridgeline Yurts, you can plan a stay without traveling in avalanche terrain, however, you are still responsible for your own safety in the backcountry on a self guided trip.
If planning a backcountry ski outing, everyone should have basic avalanche gear and know how to use it:transceiver, shovel, probe and backpack.Read local avalanche forecast, do your own stability test and make smart choices. The winter backcountry can be extremely dangerous and you need to have the necessary skills to travel safely in these areas
All members of the party will be required to sign the yurt rental agreement prior to renting or using the facility. The Ridgeline Yurts are pretty much only accessible from the Lost Trail Ski Area. You can purchase a one ride lift ticket for $7 during hours of operation or skin up from the parking lot when the ski area is closed.Allow plenty of time if planning on riding chair four as your access at the end of the day, don’t try to catch last chair.Snowmobiles are not allowed at Lost Trail Ski Area, do not plan on using snowmobiles or asking the ski area for permission.
Please open or download the required Yurt Rental Agreement and have everyone in the group read it before making a reservation. You will be emailed a combination key code if there is not another group leaving the same day you are arriving. You can view and download a PDF map of the Ridgeline site.
Overnight parking at Lost Trail needs to be done in specific yurt parking area as to not inconvenience or interrupt the ski area operations. When you leave the yurt, follow checkout instructions.
